After seven long years, it’s time for answers…
The Sinister Silhouette by Alex Grayson is FINALLY LIVE!!
My Review – 4 Stars
This is a difficult book to review because of all the twists and turns it takes as well as my mixed feelings. From the moment I read the blurb, I needed this book. I was drawn to Luca and his seemingly supernatural ability. However, I was a bit disappointed to find out the reason for his dreams was not otherworldly. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a great read, and Alex did a wonderful job of weaving this tale. She delivered it in a way that left few clues as to what surprises might await these characters. But once the story was set and details began to be laid out, I was pretty sure I knew where the story was headed. I wasn’t wrong, so I was a bit frustrated that I figured things out so quickly. It would have been nice to be a little more surprised. That’s not to say I figured everything out, because I didn’t. There were still a couple of surprises that I never saw coming.
What I liked most in regard to Luca and Jules was their visceral connection and how they listened to their instincts. I also loved the emotions that the author poured into their story; I felt every painful and fearful moment. But where I struggled were these same characters’ beliefs as well as that of Luca’s family. So many assumptions without evidence were made that I couldn’t reconcile them with the people I was reading about; I certainly couldn’t understand how everyone else could. Along those lines, there were elements to the story that were shocking and others that seemed a bit contrived and far-fetched. Furthermore, I felt like there were some oddities and unanswered questions when it came to the Luca’s family history and relationships. I never could figure out how they ended up where they ended up.
She whispers my name at night, filling my dreams with her haunting beauty.
Her tormented amber eyes beg me for something I don’t understand, and her agonizing pain becomes my own.
For years, she’s come to me, calling my name.
For years, I’ve never known who she was.
Alex Grayson is the bestselling author of heart pounding, emotionally gripping contemporary romance including The Jaded Series, The Consumed Series, and two standalone novels. Her passion for books was reignited by a gift from her sister-in-law intended to distract Alex and help her pass the time while her husband was away for work. After spending several years as a devoted reader and blogger, Alex decided to write and independently publish her first novel in 2014 (an endeavor that took a little longer than expected). The rest, as they say, is history.
Originally a southern girl, Alex now lives in Ohio with her husband, two children, two cats and dog. She loves the color blue, homemade lasagna, casually browsing real estate, and interacting with her readers. Visit her website, www.alexgraysonbooks.com, or find her on social media!
