I’m Griffin Reed—cutthroat entrepreneur and competitive bastard. Trust is a four-letter word and everyone is disposable…except Britta Stone. Three years ago, she was my everything before I stupidly threw her away. I thought I’d paid for my sin in misery—until I learned we have a son. Finding out she’s engaged to a bore who’s rushing her to the altar pisses me off even more. I intend to win her back and raise our boy. I’ll have to get ruthless, of course. Luckily, that’s one of my most singular talents.
Sixty days. That’s what I’m asking the gritty, independent single mother to give me—twenty-four/seven. Under my roof. And if I have my way, in my bed. Britta says she wants nothing to do with me. But her body language and passionate kisses make her a liar. Now all I have to do is coax her into surrendering to the old magic between us. Once I have her right where I want her, I’ll do whatever it takes to prove I more than need her.
This book is the second in the More Than Words series. The books are companions, not serials, meaning that backstory, secondary characters, and other elements will be easier to relate to if you read the installments in order, but the main romance of each book is a stand-alone.
This book contains lines that may make you laugh, events that may make you cry, and scenes that will probably have you squirming in your seat. Don’t worry about cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed! (Does not contain elements of BDSM or romantic suspense.)
I adore Shayla Black! She masterfully delivers story after story full of passion, love, heartbreak, and redemption. Griff and Britta’s journey through their painful history and reconciliation is both poignant and moving. If you read More Than Want You (encouraged but not necessary), you’ll better understand the emotions and reason for Griff’s estrangement from everyone that he loves. We start More Than Need You immediately after Griff discovered he has a child with Britta. From that moment forward, he vowed to become the husband and father that she and Jamie needed. It was a difficult road but one he was willing to walk even if he had to play dirty to get what he wanted. And with Britta harboring so much resentment, anger, and heartbreak, he needed every advantage.
Griff and Britta broke something inside of me. I felt so many emotions reading their story. I was frustrated, angry, and sad the majority of the time. Griff’s heartbreak over his actions and how they affected everyone cut deep. I was in tears watching him try to reconnect with Britta and form a relationship with his son. He was so vulnerable and open. Knowing all that he was willing to do for Britta and Jamie made the torture that she put him through to gain her trust and love infuriating. Granted he deserved to grovel for the way he left her, but it almost felt cruel. I couldn’t help but wonder how long she was going to force him to prove that he’d changed. However, I was glad that she didn’t jump into bed with him allowing them to fall back into their sexual relationship before their issues were resolved. It was nice seeing them grow in love again through other means.
The journey was long and arduous but well worth the emotional roller coaster to see Griff and Britta finally find their happily ever after. And the music added an element to the story that brought all the pain and longing to the forefront. I was glad to see Griff rebuild his bond with his brother, especially after all their parents had and continue to put them through. Now I’m going to have to find a way to suppress my anxiousness while waiting to read Harlow’s story.

In college, she found her love for reading and realized that she could have a career publishing the stories spinning in her imagination. Though she graduated with a degree in Marketing/Advertising and embarked on a stint in corporate America to pay the bills, her heart has always been with her characters. She’s thrilled that she’s been living her dream as a full-time author for the past eight years.
Shayla currently lives in North Texas with her wonderfully supportive husband, her teenage daughter, and two spoiled tabbies. In her “free” time, she enjoys reality TV, reading, and listening to an eclectic blend of music.
