Liam O’Connell was the sun to Kelly’s everlasting moon, her painted prince. A strong and devoted soul to fight the war she was slowly losing against herself…until his promises had become lies and her dream was the only way she would ever survive.
They have more than just miles and time between them now. The twin fortresses they’ve built around their hearts are next to impossible to scale. But, when two parallel fates collide in life and in death, will the impact be powerful enough to break down their self-imposed walls?
Every love story starts with Once Upon a Time, but in real life there are no fairytale endings, and the prince who rescues you…will never wear a crown.

My Review – 5 Stars
This was an achingly beautiful second chance romance. It’s often difficult to break a couple up and bring them back together in a way that is convincing and heartfelt. What A.M. Johnson did with Kelly and Liam was beyond what I could have hoped after reading about his torment in Declan’s book, Possession. I loved the way the author incorporated past with present to give us important moments throughout their history. In doing so, we are able to fully understand the self doubt and need to be free that plagued them both. Once she opened the story up to both points of view, it became evident that Kelly and Liam needed the time apart and likely wouldn’t have survived beyond those initial feelings. I could see that their love would have turned into resentment and hatred if they had continued along their path.
A.M. has a way of drawing out in her readers the pain that her characters feel. This story is heavy and heartbreaking yet uplifting and joyous. You’ll need to devote yourself to Kelly and Liam’s story and make sure you have tissues ready. I was heartbroken for the kids that Kelly and Liam never got to be and the adults they struggled to become. I savored the moments they found peace with each other. Kelly brought out the sweet and soft side of Liam and helped to ground him, and he gave her the comfort, protection, and confidence to be who she was always meant to be. I loved how easily they seemed to fit together and recognized each other’s torment. But their need for each other and the salvation they sought and hoped to obtain was what left them broken. This level of dependency is never good unless a person can stand on their own, which was something they both needed to discover in order to survive and be together again.
