BEFORE THAT NIGHT
– A USA TODAY Bestseller! —
Before that night, Addison Milan had been just a college dropout secretly raising her two young siblings in a beat-up minivan she’d bought with her first semester’s tuition refund–the only money her addict mother hadn’t taken off with when she’d abandoned them nearly two years ago.
Before that night, Caine Spencer had been just a rough, gruff cop sent to check out the phoned-in claims of suspected child neglect involving the same woman he’d met just months prior when she’d first served him the city’s worst diner coffee…which he’d been drinking daily ever since.
Before that night, Addison would never have thought the man she’d been fighting hard not to fall for–her only friend in her new shadow of a life–would be in a position to rip her family apart.
Before that night, Caine would never have believed any woman could make him fall head over heels, let alone make him feel so damn compelled to look the other way when it came to his job.
Then that one perfect night changed everything.
“Hot, sweet, and filled with tender moments, Violet Duke writes heroes who make me swoon!” — New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan
BEFORE THAT NIGHT (Bk 1 of 2) chronicles the events that take place seven years prior to EVERY NIGHT WITHOUT YOU (Bk 2 of 2), Caine & Addison’s story of love, sacrifice, and the lengths one will run–and chase–when their past threatens their future.
The introduction immediately drew me in and endeared Addison to me. She’s a strong, clever, and beautiful woman. She also is a wonderful sister/surrogate mom. I think what I liked most about this book was the lack of subterfuge. While Addison needed to keep her secrets, she also opened up in other ways and then revealed them once she knew she could trust Caine. It may have been forced in a way, but she was ready to open up at that point and revealed more than she had to. I also loved her courage to fight for herself and her “kids”.
I loved Caine. He was thoughtful, sweet, strong, and principled. He also had an insane amount of self-control. I loved how he wormed his way into Addison’s life and gave her someone to rely on. He was the perfect man for her, Tanner, and Kylie.
In addition to the Addison and Caine, I liked the secondary characters and their interactions. I enjoyed the suspenseful aspects of the story and realism of it all. Although I hate that it ended on a cliffhanger, I loved this story and looked forward to reading their second chance.

EVERY NIGHT WITHOUT YOU
Seven damn years of wondering whether the woman was still alive…whether she’d spent the last two thousand five hundred fifty-five days wondering if he was still alive.
Wondering whether that night was as burned into her memory as it was his.
Seven years having his heart tethered to Addison―and now she’s back. With even more reasons to run than she’d had then.
Only this time, Caine isn’t letting the gorgeous little flight risk out of his sight.
Regardless of how noble her reasons may be.
“Violet Duke is my go-to read when I just want to immerse myself in a captivating romance.” – NYT bestselling author J.S. Cooper
EVERY NIGHT WITHOUT YOU (Bk 2 of 2) takes place seven years after BEFORE THAT NIGHT (Bk 1 of 2), and is the conclusion of Caine & Addison’s story of love, sacrifice, and the lengths one will run―and chase―when their past threatens their future.
Book two slayed me! Violet Duke has a beautiful way with words. Her ability to write such clear emotions and complex characters pulls you into every aspect of their lives. I longed for Addison and Caine to be together again.
For second chance romances to work, I need a clear and believable reason for the split as well as evidence that things are worth fighting for the second time around. The author gave us all that in spades. There was no doubt in my mind that these Addison and Caine belonged together. They had both endured so much heartache over the seven years they were apart. It was like their hearts were two pieces of a whole pulling towards each other across the miles. When they were finally back in each others presence, I could physically feel all of the longing, love, and need that pulsed between them. It was heartbreaking and yet hopeful at the same time.
I loved everything about this book. I loved the way Addison and Caine reconnected, their flirting, which was insanely hot and sweet, their constant struggle to stay away from each other, and finally their profession of love. I enjoyed the interactions Addison had with her family, her strength throughout her struggles, and what she was able to accomplish in her life. Everything she did was for Tanner and Kylie, and it was beautiful to see how giving and loving these two turned out to be. And I can’t forget the thrill ride we were sent on. The author definitely kept me guessing; I never saw the little twist at the end coming!
I love all of the friends and family in this book! Alec, Marco, and all of Caine’s brothers are great characters. I especially love how much they all tease each other and rile Caine up. They kept me laughing! I’m looking forward to reading more about these guys and their journeys to finding love.
